Bio

Jonathan T. Engel (’02) is a trial lawyer actively engaged in the private practice of law in New York. 

Jonathan is a trial lawyer at Finkelstein & Partners, LLP; as well as Of Counsel to Jacoby & Meyers, LLP; Fine, Olin, & Anderman, LLP; and Finkelstein, Blankinship, Frei-Pearson, & Garber, LLP.  As a trial lawyer, he has the honor of deterring major corporations from neglecting safety rules by holding them accountable for injuring people.  

Jonathan currently serves on the Access: Supports for Living Foundation Board of Directors; Pace University’s Scholarship Campaign Committee; and the Westchester County Bar Association’s Community Recovery Taskforce (purpose of the task force is to help the Westchester County community recover from the COVID-19 pandemic).  

In 2019, Jonathan, and his father, Robert C. Engel, Sr., donated the property where the Engel family conducted its business, Engel Funeral Home, Inc. for four decades.  The property was donated to Access: Supports for Living, Inc., one of the Hudson Valley’s largest non-profit human services providers.  Access: Supports for Living has dedicated the property as The Engel Center.  The Engel Center is to be used to further Access: Supports for Living’s purposes of serving people with developmental disabilities as a training and gathering space for staff.  During the COVID-19 pandemic, The Engel Center served as the temporary location for the Orange County Mobile Crisis Response Team. 

Jonathan has been recognized as both a Top 100 (Civil Plaintiff - NY) and a Top 40 Under 40 (Civil Plaintiff - NY) by The National Trial Lawyers, a Top 10 Under 40 (NY) by the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys, a Top 25 Motor Vehicle Trial Lawyers Association (NY), and has been named to both Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who Top Lawyers.
