b'SCHOOL SAFETY Department Mission Statement: To maintain a secure and safe environment throughout the Our Lady of Lourdes campus, keeping students, faculty, staff and administration safe by implementing and carrying out OLL safety procedures. Objectives: To improve the school alarm system, radio communication, and maintain better overall record-keeping of state-required inspections.Actions Steps: Fire Alarm Security System Updated/ Unified - Old Safeco System replaced by F,S&S Security System. False alarms have ceased by the elimination of the old system. 30 New Radios NYCOMCO have improved day-to-day communication between Administrators, Main Office Staff, Maintenance, Lunch-room monitors, after-school supervision, PE, Nurse, and others. After-school safety and security improved by initiating 2 supervision locations with radio communication. Student athletes are always supervised until a coach notifies cafeteria supervisor to send them from the cafeteria. Created an electronic checklist of all inspections required by law for the school, with dates of previous inspections includedIncreased student bathroom supervision by faculty, Deans, and lunch monitors during the school day . Action Steps: Initiate teacher duties of restroom pop-ins in between classes. Initiate electronic log for teachers (Classroom Exit Log) to document student use of restrooms. Increased monitoring of student restrooms by the Deans of Students. Camera review of restroom areas if/ when incidents take place.To improve the effectiveness of OLL evacuations/ lockdownsAction Steps: Create new forms for teachers submitting attendance for Lockdowns/ Evacuations to expedite the process. Periodically communicate policy to faculty as reminders as what their responsibilities are in crisis situations. (Follow-Up emails after drills) Continue our practice of having 8 evacuation drills and 4 lockdown drills per year.To improve communications with faculty and staff regarding safety procedures/policy/expectations . Action Steps: Send email reminders to faculty and staff regarding evacuation/ lockdown procedures; review policy in department meetings in person. Continue to follow up with teachers after drills in order to address areas where improvement is needed.Have in-person meetings with faculty at the start of the school year regarding school safety policy and procedures.'
