Athletes Prayer:

God our Father, help us to put forth our best effort, to represent our school with class, to respect our opponents, and to grow as disciples of your Son, Jesus. Keep us safe from injury and harm through the intercession of Our Lady, the mother of your Son and our mother, too. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen. Saint Sebastian, pray for us!

2024 Basketball Programs Send Off

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our winter athletes for their hard work and dedication over the last few months. It’s been a joy to watch you compete and represent the Lourdes community.

We’ve had an incredible winter season this year, with athletes making it to the state tournaments in both wrestling and indoor track. Shout out to Bryce Reilly who won multiple matches at states and made it to the second day of the state tournament. And a huge congratulations to Alex North who placed 2nd in the state and 3rd in federations for the 300M race. Congratulations to both of you on amazing seasons!!

At this time I’d like to put the spotlight on our Girls & Boys basketball teams. For the first time in school history BOTH the Girls and Boys teams have made it to the state final four.

In the first semifinal matchup, the Boys will take on West Genesee HS tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 PM in Glens Falls! The boys got to this point by winning their division, winning the MHAL Title for the second straight season, and capturing the Section IX Class AA Championship. After receiving a bye to the regional final, the boys pulled out a come-from-behind win over Peekskill HS who was ranked #9 in the state. The Warriors battled all game and junior Tommy Simpsion sealed the win with a cold-blooded corner 3 with 2 seconds left in the game. The boys return to the state final four for the first time since 2017 and are looking to capture the first state title in program history. Safe travels tonight, and good luck this weekend!

We would also like to wish our Girls Basketball program the best of luck as they prepare for their semi-final match-up on Saturday morning vs. Walt Whitman HS! The girls have dominated the entire season and currently hold a record of 23-1. They’ve held a top 10 spot in the Class AAA state rankings for a majority of the season, and are currently ranked 5th!! Before reaching the state semifinals the girls went undefeated in their division earning a trip to the MHAL playoffs where they won the MHAL title for the first time. After that, they dominated Pine Bush in the sectional final game and won the Section IX Class AAA championship! This was the first sectional title for the program since 2006! The Warriors proceeded to dominate the sub-regional and regional games where they defeated Section IV Champ, Elmira HS, and Dutchess County rival Ketcham HS. The girls are playing incredible basketball right now and we can’t wait to cheer them on this Saturday at Hudson Valley Community College! Good luck this weekend ladies!

LET’S GO WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!
